WaxBuster Wax Guard

The WaxBuster Wax Guard is an older-style wax protection system used mainly with selected Oticon hearing aids. It sits in the sound outlet and helps prevent earwax from entering the hearing aid and affecting sound performance.

Unlike many newer universal-looking wax filters, WaxBuster guards are side-specific. The red version is intended for the right ear, while the blue version is intended for the left.

Compatibility

The WaxBuster Wax Guard is mainly used with selected older Oticon hearing aids that were originally fitted with the WaxBuster system.

Because different hearing aids can use different wax protection systems, the safest option is to replace an existing WaxBuster with the same WaxBuster type and side.

How to replace a WaxBuster

WaxBuster guards require a compatible removal or extraction tool for replacement. Use the correct tool to remove the old guard and fit the new one securely.

Do not try to remove the WaxBuster with sharp household objects, as this can damage the hearing aid or sound outlet.

When should the WaxBuster be replaced?

Replace the WaxBuster when it becomes blocked with earwax, visibly dirty, damaged or when sound becomes noticeably weaker or muffled.

Replacement frequency varies depending on how much earwax you produce and how often the hearing aid is worn, so there is no single fixed interval that applies to everyone.
