The Bernafon miniFit Ear Grip is a retention tail made for Bernafon hearing aids using the miniFit receiver system. It helps anchor the receiver in your ear, resisting shifts and reducing feedback when you speak, chew, or move.
Is the Minifit Ear Grip the right choice for you?
If your dome shifts or you hear whistling when your jaw moves, the Ear Grip provides extra tension to keep the receiver in place. It’s ideal for active users or those whose ear shape causes slight movement in the device during daily wear.
Correct variant and sizing
Each Bernafon miniFit receiver has a specific power level that determines how strong its amplification is. This power level is measured in decibels (dB) and typically comes in three versions: 60 dB (for mild hearing loss), 85 dB (for moderate hearing loss), and 100 dB (for more severe hearing loss). The miniFit Ear Grip must match that power level because each receiver size has a slightly different shape and thickness. You can find the power level printed in small letters or numbers on the receiver near the part where the dome attaches. When replacing your Ear Grip, make sure to choose one labeled with the same dB number as your receiver. Using the correct match ensures the Ear Grip fits securely, supports proper retention, and keeps the hearing aid performing as intended.
Replacement guide
You should replace the Ear Grip monthly or as soon as it becomes stiff, discolored, or loses holding force.
- Remove the dome from the receiver tip
- Slide off the old Ear Grip
- Align the new grip with the receiver groove
- Push it on until snug, then refit the dome
What difference it makes
With a proper Ear Grip, your hearing aid stays rooted in the ear, so you’ll notice less micro-whistling and fewer volume fluctuations during movement. The slim form keeps it comfortable under the dome. Because it limits entry of wax, moisture, and dirt into the receiver junction, it helps preserve internal elements and prolong clarity and device lifespan.
