Receiver Tools

Precision tools for receiver care

On this page you’ll find specialized receiver tools for all kinds of receivers – these are small instruments audiologists use to safely remove, lock, and handle receiver wires. These are not “optional extras”; if you ever need to change a receiver or service the wire-linkage yourself or in a local workshop, these tools prevent damage to fragile components.

Types and functions

You’ll see tools like the Pin Removal Tool, which lets you gently release the locking pin inside the hearing aid housing to detach or insert the receiver wire. This tool often has a pointed tip for pushing the pin and a flat side for locking it back.
SlimTip removal tools also appear in this category, which is used when you have very tight or compact tube connections such as the Slim Tube C.

How and when to use them

If your receiver wire is stuck, buzzing, or malfunctioning, you might need to replace it. This begins by using the pin removal tool to nudge the internal pin outward by 2-3 mm (don’t fully remove it) before pulling the receiver free. Insert the new wire, then use the flat end of the tool to push the pin back in to lock it.

You should only use these tools when absolutely necessary – misuse can damage the housing or internal mechanisms. Always move slowly and precisely.

Why receiver tools are necessary

Receiver tools allow safe self-service or informed local repair, reducing the need for costly service center visits. They help maintain correct alignment, reduce risk of wire breakage, and support longer life for your Phonak device. With proper handling, you can keep your hearing system running cleanly, even when moisture, wax, or dirt attempt to intrude.
