Danalogic domes for hearing aids
Danalogic domes are a key component of many Danalogic hearing aids. They create a secure fit inside the ear canal, support proper sound transmission, and protect the sound outlet from direct contact with earwax. When domes harden, discolor, or lose their shape, comfort and sound quality can decline. Regular replacement helps maintain consistent amplification and reliable daily performance.
Why regular replacement is essential
Domes are made from soft silicone material that is exposed daily to skin oils, earwax, moisture, and dirt. Over time, the material loses elasticity and may stretch or stiffen. This can therefore result in:
- Reduced wearing comfort
- Feedback or whistling sounds
- Decreased sound clarity
- Increased buildup of bacteria and wax
Therefore most users should replace domes every 4 to 8 weeks, depending on daily use and individual ear conditions. If you wear hearing aids for many hours each day, you may need to replace domes more often to maintain performance and hygiene.
Open, closed, and power domes
Different dome types support different levels of hearing loss and device settings.
Open domes have small ventilation openings and are typically used for mild to moderate hearing loss. They allow more natural airflow and reduce the sensation of occlusion.
Closed domes provide a tighter seal in the ear canal and are suitable for users who require stronger amplification.
Power domes create the most secure seal and support maximum sound delivery for more significant hearing loss.
Your hearing aid model and audiological fitting determine the correct dome type. If you feel unsure, choose the same type and size you used before or consult your hearing care professional.
Comfort and acoustic balance
Dome size directly affects both comfort and sound quality. A dome that is too small may sit loosely and cause feedback. On the other hand a dome that is too large may create pressure or irritation. The correct size ensures a stable fit, consistent amplification, and comfortable wear throughout the day.
At Japebo we offers different sizes:
- SF2 Domes: SureFit 2 in different sizes
- SF3 Domes: SureFit 3 also in different sizes and is available in both open and closed models.
Routine replacement of worn domes helps preserve the intended acoustic performance of your Danalogic hearing aids.
Easy replacement and secure attachment
Danalogic domes are typically easy to attach to the receiver or thin tube. Always ensure the dome is firmly secured before inserting the hearing aid into your ear. Inspect domes regularly for cracks, stiffness, or discoloration, as even small changes can affect performance.
